DIY hand air embroidery, thread lace leaf. Unusual handicraft, tutorial on how to make air leaves
I’ve never seen anything like this, it’s very pretty. It looks like lace, I can think of lots of places I would use one of these leaves. I think a daisy would look beautiful using this technique!♥️♥️♥️♥️
I have never seen this before, what a great creative idea! The leaves were actually my second try, i started with a christmas tree. Made a pattern from a cone it and used the cone to stiffen the shape after making it. Angel wings come to mind and wind twirlers and jewelry and … oh my what a world of creativity you have opened up for us!
I have been doing needlework for many years, and I’ve never seen anything like this! I love it! So clever. Thank you for sharing it with everybody. I’m going to try it very soon.
I do lots of different needle arts and now I have to try this one! I like that each leaf is unique just as in nature.
These are so delicate and beautiful!! I think I might leave a loop of doubled over thread for the Stem of the leaf, to make it easier to attach a metal loop for using as jewelry pendant or earrings. I was thinking you would put it in water to remove the paper, but this way you can reuse the cardboard.
This is a wonderful technique! I just finished some small pumpkins to hang in my window for the fall season. They turned out beautiful! I’ll be making some leaves to go with them. I’d love to be to figure out how to use two colors next to each other. For instance adding a little purple witches hat to an orange pumpkin for Halloween. Thanks for showing and sharing this. I’m addicted!
I’m so amazed at how you created the beautiful and delicate leaves! Thank you so much for sharing your passion 💞
My great grandma used to make these all the time! I have been looking for this diy forever! Her side of the family came from Belgium!
I was SO SURPRISED by the end–hairspray and cutting the back threads! I expected to have to soak the paper in water to dissolve it and gently rub it out of the threads. This is much easier, but wouldn’t it leave little ends sticking off the back at each point? Won’t that make the leaf fuzzy on the back?
And the hairspray was a huge surprise too — I expected a big process to starch it.Very beautiful! I would like to try this! What size needles do you use for sewing, and what thickness of thread?
Hello, I’m your 319th Thumbs up. This is absolutely beautiful, but for me I don’t see it as fast & easy. I don’t think I would have the patience to spend 20 minutes making one thing. But, I absolutely Love what you shared. Who knows. Maybe after trying & getting use to the method it would go faster. This is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen made. Maybe I’d have to do smaller things that could be a option for me. Great Share.
